The club

Independance Club is at number 127 on Calle de Atocha, two minutes from Plaza del Emperador Carlos V and Atocha station. It is a concert venue and a nightclub at the same time. It covers more than 1,000 square metres in total, over 600 of them open floor, with a 50-square-metre stage, a hydraulic catwalk, two dressing rooms with showers, a cloakroom and a kitchen. Its legal capacity is 750 people for night sessions and 600 for concerts.

The sound system is d&b audiotechnik and the booth has two Pioneer CDJ-3000s and a DJM-900 mixer. Mando Diao, Supersubmarina, Catpeople and We Are Standard have played on its stage. The venue is open 365 days a year, does not close in August, and its programme mixes afternoon parties, rock and metal gigs, tribute acts and themed club nights. Each party draws its own crowd: the 2000s night, the K-pop night, the emo night or the Taylor Swift night.

Which night to go

Club nights are on Fridays and Saturdays, from 23:30 to 06:00, with a new theme each weekend. In autumn 2026: La Fiesta del Calendario by Oro Jondo (Friday 23 October), the Gran Fiesta Halloween (Friday 30), the Kpop Party (Friday 6 November), the tribute to Extremoduro, Platero y Tú, Marea and La Raíz (Saturday 7), the one to El Canto del Loco, Pereza and La Oreja de Van Gogh (Saturday 14) and El Chico Feo XXL4 (Saturday 21). Before that, on Fridays and Saturdays there is an afternoon party from 18:00 to 23:30.

The music

There is no single style. The programme is split between rock, 80s, 90s and 2000s music, pop, K-pop, indie, techno, heavy metal and tribute acts. On tribute nights a band plays live and then the DJ set carries on until closing. Techno has its own nights, such as Vanta Club on Christmas Eve.

Getting there

Estación del Arte metro, on line 1, is a two-minute walk, and Atocha station, with Cercanías trains, is a few minutes away. Daytime buses stop nearby: the E1 at Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, the 59 and 85 at Museo Reina Sofía and the C2 at Reina Sofía. At night there is plenty of choice: the night buses N801, N807 and N402 at Emperador Carlos V-Atocha, and the N10 to N13 at Museo del Prado-Jardín Botánico, less than 400 metres away.
